The iconic location of Bar Harbor, Maine’s Sand Beach awaits you. Come learn how to paint this very popular Maine destination. I recently visited Sand Beach and gathered a lot of reference material to make a series of lessons, and I’m kicking it off with The Rocks Of Sand Beach.
In this lesson I’ll show you a really basic way to set up your composition. From there we will begin to layer in our colors. We will focus on getting a good midtone layer before adding in shadows and light values.
I’ll teach you each brush stroke in this painting from start to finish. I will show you how to create the soft gray ocean clouds that drift over the islands of Maine. I’ll show you how to use a flat brush to create rock shapes and highlights. I’ll show you how to create a nice crashing wave over the rocks on the beach, and all the variations in the water.
This lesson is about 2 hours long. Come join the fun, and learn how to paint this great Maine scene.
