IMPORTANT NOTE: The first few lessons are out now, and each subsequent lesson will be coming out over the next 8 weeks. They will be automatically added to your account as they are released. This is by design. I want you to take each step in the series, ask questions, and learn each step so we can master the clouds effectively!
Why are clouds so difficult to paint? There are only a few colors, pretty much any shape can be a cloud, there isn’t anything complicated about them, yet… they are still so hard to paint! Why!?
In the Mastering Clouds series I am going to take you down the painting clouds rabbit hole. I’m going to show you every minute detail on how I approach clouds. From pictures, from imagination, from memory, it doesn’t matter how you want to paint your clouds, the techniques will be the same.
In this series you’ll get BOTH acrylic and oil versions of the lessons.
I’m breaking it down into 10 steps. So in this series you will get 10 lessons starting from easy going all the way up to advanced, and everything in between.
Lesson 1 – In this lesson I show you how to create really effective clouds with just two colors. Our focus will be on cloud edges and blending.
Lesson 2 – Adding in one more color. We will take the same approach as lesson 1, but add one more color to the palette to get more depth and texture to our clouds.
Lesson 3 – Simple Cumulus Clouds – those big towering clouds are tough to paint, but I’m going to give you a basic pattern to follow to make simple clouds look more complicated.
Lesson 4 – Intro to cloudy skies – sometimes we can’t see any blue sky at all. How do we capture something so ambiguous? I’ll show you how in this lesson.
Lesson 5 – Expanding our palette – in this lesson we’ll start to get more advanced with an expanded palette
Lesson 6 – Getting Ultimate Depth – In this lesson we’ll start to create “deep” skies where you can see “forever” through the clouds.
Lesson 7 – Advanced contours – Learn the reverse contour method as well as a direct contour method. Learn how to create those textured cumulus clouds that really put an exclamation point on a painting!
Lesson 8 – Advanced contours with an expanded palette. Similar to lesson 7 but with an expanded color palette.
Lesson 9 – Advanced Cloudscape 1 – Learn how to make a large painting of clouds as the main subject
Lesson 10 – Gallery worthy cloudscape – Watch me create a giant cloudscape with explanation. I’ll show you how to paint advanced clouds on a huge scale!
