In this step by step lesson, I’ll take you through the entire painting process from start to finish. We’ll explore how to use negative space to create unique background trees, giving you an easy way to build depth and atmosphere without having to paint every individual tree.

You’ll also learn how to layer acrylic paint effectively, building the painting gradually while keeping your colors fresh and creating separation between the foreground, middle ground, and background.

We’ll spend time working with complementary color combinations, especially the relationship between the warm oranges in the tree and the cooler blues and violets in the background. You’ll see how these color relationships can create contrast, vibrancy, and a stronger focal point.
