Join me in painting an English Oak Tree in oil. In this lesson I will take you through each step in the process of creating this painting. First I’ll show you how I create a simple but effective background. I also explain how I use a medium to make the paint dry faster so I can start the focal point of the lesson (the tree) in the same session.
From there I’ll show you how to create a base for the tree. Here we visit the “ugly stage” where we just create shapes and medium values. Then we will layer the paint, adding some textures and brighter values to create depth within the tree foliage.
Come paint with me in this fun and straight forward painting lesson. You’ll have a ton of fun creating your own English Oak tree. Reference photos will be included!
