Q: What precautions are you taking for COVID-19?
I am limiting the number of attendees this year. The room is very large and will accommodate social distancing. The room will be cleaned and disinfected each night. I will also do an evening session (if enough people sign up) to accommodate a smaller group who may feel more vulnerable or at risk.
Q: What do I need to bring to the workshop?
A: You will need a table top easel, paint and brushes. I provide the canvas for the workshop. I always bring a little extra of everything so I can usually help you out if you are missing a color or brush. I can also bring an easel on request, but since I’m traveling it will be on a limited first come, first serve basis.
Brushes to bring: I use most (please bring additional brushes if you’d like): Medium flat brush, small flat brush, medium round brush (blunt end), small round brush (blunt end), small liner brush, script liner, fan brush, and a large background brush. *
*Medium = half inch to inch (1.5 to a few centimeters) wide.
Q: What will we learn?
A: We will do two full paintings in the workshop. The first day we tackle a landscape from your local area. In this first painting we will learn about perspective, color choice, composition, brush use and a lot of other very important techniques. On the second day we dig deep into a creative painting. Here we will create a painting from one of my signature series. I always choose a painting that I’ve never done before at previous workshops, so if you’ve attended before you can be sure you’ll be learning a new painting each time.
Q: How long is the workshop?
A: Each day is 5 hours of painting with an hour lunch break. The day is 5 hours total. Please look at the schedule above to see the time.
Q: I’m new to painting, can I still attend?
A: Yes! I’ve had a lot of first time painters attend with great success. The group usually consists of people who have painted for many years to people who have only painted recently. There is always a good mix of experience. I do a lot of one on one teaching to ensure everyone gets as much info out of the workshop as possible.
Q: How many people are in the group?
A: We only allow 15 people total to join the workshop. This is a great group that is large enough for me to be able to keep the price down, but small enough to get a ton of one on one time and direct help.
Q: Can I paint in oil?
A: Sure, you can bring oil paints, but please bring Liquin Original to ensure your paint dries a little faster so you can keep up.
